We are delighted to announce our ninth webinar session! It will take place on Wednesday, 17 June at 16:00 CEST on YouTube Live. We are pleased to welcome our researchers and PIs Dzmitry Kananovich and Riina Aav, from Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), in Estonia. During this webinar they will discuss challenges of assessing risk and impurities in mechanochemical synthesis, presenting the case study of the anticancer drug imatinib.
Dzmitry Kananovich is a member of the Supramolecular Chemistry group at TalTech, where he works with Riina Aav. His current research interests include the development of novel mechanochemical synthetic methods in organic chemistry, particularly those involving organometallic reagents. He began his independent academic career at the ERA Chair of Green Chemistry at TalTech, where he focuses on the chemistry of cyclopropanes and the development of green methodologies in organic synthesis, including aerobic oxidation processes.
On the other hand, Riina Aav’s scientific interests include the development of mechanochemical synthetic methods and the design of chiral macrocyclic molecules, such as hemicucurbiturils. She is also interested in the chiroptical properties of supramolecular systems and their applications, as well as the development of sustainable methods for material recycling. She leads the Estonian Centre of Excellence in Circular Economy for Strategic Mineral and Carbon Resources (SOURCES).
