We are proud to welcome Vânia André, representing our partner Associação do Instituto Superior Técnico para a Investigação e Desenvolvimento (IST-ID), in Portugal. She will present the role of IST-ID within IMPACTIVE, partner focused on multicomponent systems and solid-state characterisation.
Our speaker Vânia André is currently an assistant researcher at Centro de Química Estrutural, Institute of Molecular Sciences, Instituto Superior Técnico, and IST-ID, all in Portugal. Over the past twenty years, her research has focused on applying Crystal Engineering and Supramolecular Chemistry to improve crystal forms of active pharmaceutical ingredients. She is currently also developing bio-inspired metal-organic frameworks and antibiotic coordination frameworks (ACFs) for enhanced antimicrobial activity. Since 2009, André is in the organising committee of the National Training Site Modern Methods of Structure Elucidation, hosted by CQE. She has also been involved in the organisation of several national and international conferences and is currently WP3 co-leader within IMPACTIVE.
On the other hand, IST-ID is a private nonprofit organisation focused on Science and Technology. Its mission includes facilitating knowledge transfer and promoting researcher participation in national and international R&D&I projects. Within IMPACTIVE, the IST-ID team also includes two additional partner institutions—LAQV/REQUIMTE-NOVA-FCT and LAQV/REQUIMTE-FFUP—that complement the expertise that we can offer as a team. This team’s main areas of expertise include mechanochemistry, crystal engineering, solid-state characterisation by X-ray diffraction techniques and crystallography.
