The French Ambassador to Estonia has visited us! On 5th February, Emmanuel Mignot visited the Institut Charles Gerhardt Montpellier (ICGM) at the University of Montpellier, France, to discover more about IMPACTIVE. During the visit, the Ambassador and his delegation engaged with our team, exchanging insights and exploring the field of mechanochemistry.
Our project coordinator, Evelina Colacino, accompanied by her team members, led the visit, highlighting the collaborative efforts between France and Estonia in mechanochemistry. She provided a detailed overview of the strategic partnerships established with various Estonian universities and research institutes, emphasising the collaborative efforts and joint research and educational initiatives. Within IMPACTIVE, our Estonian partner, TalTech, oversees pollution hazard control. This means ensuring toxicity standards are met.

Alongside the Montpellier lab, our partner in charge of the exploitation SATT-AxLR was also present. The President of SATT-AxLR Occitanie Region, Philippe Nérin, introduced the organisation’s work, particularly in supporting start-up creation across France, with a focus on Montpellier. The visit included a tour of the mechanochemistry laboratories, providing the delegation with first-hand insight into the research activities developed onsite.
“I am very honoured to have hosted, at ICGM Montpellier, the French Ambassador in Estonia Emmanuel Mignot and its team. It was a great opportunity to strength the French-Estonian cooperation and to afford hot topics in the field of organic mechanochemistry, as a contribution to make the European industry more resilient and sustainable”, says Evelina Colacino.
Overall, the visit was an exceptional opportunity to exchange ideas and strengthen relations with our Estonian partners. It also paved the way for continuing to advance both scientific research and international cooperation.
